Sunshower

November, 2008. Finished.

Sunshower is a pencil drawing competed in November of 2008. It was an early experiment with perspective and my newly developed erasing shading technique.

The drawing features a very long and large winged serpent, inspired by the Pokemon Dragonair, in a vast ocean. Light is shining through the clouds during a sun shower.

This drawing, being very old, is lacking in many areas. The perspective is off, and rain does not look like the symbol of rain many of us know, as a teardrop. Rain appears as lines when in motion, and in freeze-frame, it is actually a disc shape. I do however like the clear effect of the water.

I later painted the same creature in pen and ink, as you can see here. The drawing was again, disproportional although it added to the dramatic feeling of the piece.
