Moonlit Serpent

Moonlit Serpent is an ink painting completed in the year 2010 for my Portfolio Development I class at Kingswood Regional High School. It was an open ink and ink-wash assignment.

The painting features a white serpent with black raven-wings in lake surrounded by mountains. The full moon hovers over the lake.

The painting was not well received. The teacher complained the reflections were incorrect and that my trees didn't look like trees.

I was quite surprised that they didn't mention the perspective is wrong, the trees at the bottom of the painting should be much larger, and the bottom of the tail was not intended to be painted over. But other than those mistakes, I love the contrast and mystic beauty of the painting.
