Cloak of the Night

Cloak of the Night is a pencil drawing completed in January, 2011. Most of the drawing was done during my high school classes.

The drawing features a bat-like dragon hanging from a tree branch. In the background is a lake and mountains, with low clouds and a crescent moon. The little dragon rests his eyes after a long flight.

What I like most about this drawing is how much more natural and realistic the tree branches look from my old drawings; they aren't round and straight, but twisting and jagged. I also like how the foreground is separated from the background. The background stays behind the subject where it belongs, giving the drawing a more three-dimensional look.
