An Intro to Figure Drawing

October 12th, 2011
As an introduction to figure drawing, my Intro to Drawing class was assigned to reproduce a Poussin painting. We were to use broad general shapes, then work down to smaller ones. We were not to get into fine details such as faces. Afterward, we were to shade the drawing with lights, mediums, and darks.

The drawing took at least an hour overall, probably more like an hour and a half or two. I didn't keep track. But it was a very large piece of paper, and it felt like an awful long time.

Unfortunately, my drawing wasn't the best among the other students, but it wasn't the worst either. I need to work on being more neat and making fine marks rather than fat ones.
