Needy Dragons

Needy Dragons is a pencil drawing drawn in January, 2010 completed both in and out of class. The name was inspired by a comment made by my high school best friend.

The drawing features two flightless dragons in a cave with piles and piles of gold coins and treasure. Two dragons, male and female, gaze into each others eyes. The male wraps his tail around her protectively.

While the pose seems a little strange and awkward, it was made intentionally. The negative shape between the two dragons forms a sort of heart shape (although a crooked one).

The drawing took approximately two hours to draw because of its extensive detail. I am slightly pleased with the end product; the characters are cute and charming. While the background is cartoon-ish, it has some depth and perspective. I believe the part that stands out to me most is the male dragon's neck because it is a strange angle. In reality, a long necked creature such as a dragon would not have such a wide range of motion.
