A Bust or Two

November 15, 2011.  Ink. Finished.
November 15, 2011. Vine Charcoal. Finished.

Today, November 15th, 2011, no models came to class, so we went back to the basics. We were shown several slides by an artist who uses fingerprints to create massive pieces of art. Later, we tried it for ourselves (on a smaller scale of course). Value was our primary focus, because clear defined edges are not easily achieved with fingerprints. We then quickly redrew the bust in charcoal to see the knowledge we gained.

I didn't particularly enjoy the exercise. It was very messy and difficult to achieve the correct value. I also prefer definite edges over blurry or undefined ones.
