I first began "playing with light" in 2010. I was taking Photography class at Kingswood Regional High school. It was only a quarter long course, but I really enjoyed the class and learned many techniques. One of them was how to photograph moving light.
The key to creating this spiraling trails of light is controlling the camera settings manually. You need to increase the exposure setting (how long the photo is taken). The longer the exposure, the more that will be in the picture. Adjusting the aperture will allow the camera to take in more or less light.
You can use this technique to take beautiful pictures of sparklers, fireworks, and trails of car lights on roads.
