Architectural Drawing

For this class, September 22nd, 2011, my Intro to Drawing class went outside the Paul Creative Arts Center and walked down the street a ways to draw some buildings with interesting architecture., This particular drawing is of a part of Kingsbury.

 The drawing was done in charcoal with a little bit of black conte crayon on drawing paper. The drawing was slightly distorted because my drawing board was at an angle on my lap (we had no desks of course) and so my perception of the drawing was different than if it were drawn face on. You can probably tell by looking that the board was at a downward angle toward the top right corner.

Definitely need to work on looking at my paper right. I always have my head crooked or something!

Despite its obvious mistakes, I kind of like how this drawing came out. It has a sort of "fun house" look to it, because of the way it is distorted and curved. I still need to work more with perspective and vanishing points. To my great joy, my drawing managed to make it to the art room wall for public display.
