Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice is a pencil drawing completed in December 2009. The drawing was drawn in my own free time, mostly during highschool classes.

Two mythical beasts clash in a fight for barren mountain range of a far off land- the bird of fire, and the dragon of ice. An iceberg melts and reforms in the heat-and cold- of battle.

This drawing was created by method of draw and erase. I sketch out the basic lines, then shade in the details and shadows. Last of all, I erase highlights and light sources, such as the sun and fire of the phoenix.

The drawing was well received by my peers. It was admired for its fine details and lighting effects, as well that the whole concept of an epic battle and how it was executed. I, too, was actually very pleased for the same reasons. Drawing phoenix is not an easy task.
