Icy Guardian

2010. Inkwash.

Icy Guardian is a pen and ink wash painting done for my Portfolio Development II class in 2010. It was a free project- and experiment with working with texture, detail, and value.

In the painting, a wingless western dragon sits on an icy cliff in front of the full moon, guarding the small town in the valley below. He eyes the viewer suspiciously.

This drawing is one of my all time favorites. I put in hours of detail into the penning of scales on the dragon. The contast really brings the figure out and creates depth. Many of my high school classmates complimented me on my ink work.
